Volunteers to begin removal of mile-a-minute weed
      Saturday is D-day for an invader in Potter and Cameron counties. Citizen soldiers are being encouraged to turn out at 9:00 a.m. in the 40 Maples area of Sinnemahoning State Park to get their marching orders for the hand-to-hand combat against "mile-a-minute" weed.

field cross country team
      Cameron County will be attempting to field a scholastic cross country team for the fall 2007 season. Students in grades nine through 12 who are interested in participating have until Friday, June 29, to sign up. They can stop at the high school office or call coach Jeff Hutton at 486-2569.

     Yet another one of the large tagged trout stocked by East End Beverage and Straub Brewery was caught recently. Dave Garner landed this 20-inch rainbow near Emporium. Anglers can redeem the tag on the trout for a free case of Straub or another beverage of their choice from either of the businesses. East End Beverage and Straub Brewery buy 20 or more trout of this size and bigger and stock them locally to give anglers, particularly young ones, an opportunity to catch trophy-size fish. They purchase the trout from Gary Brown, owner of Lake Clear Creek.
