Furman in RIT record books
      Coudersport's Danielle Furman has done it again. The small-statured athlete came up big in a late-season track and field meet, as a member of the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers. Her javelin heave of 116 feet, 6 inches was a new school record.

McVay, Lightner earn softball honors
      Coudersport junior Kelly McVay has been named to the Big 30 High School Softball All-Star Team. She joins Northern Potter's Katie Smoker, also a junior, as the only Potter or Cameron County representatives on the 18-member ceremonial team.

Legion baseball underway
      Baseball season is far from over for many members of this year's Cameron County High School team, which barely missed a berth in the state championship game. Several Red Raiders are playing for Emporium's American Legion Baseball team. Some are also members of the defending champion Emporium squad in the Alle- Catt Amateur Baseball League.

Alle-Catts keep on winning
      Strong hitting once again propelled Emporium's Alle- Catt baseball team to victory on the road Sunday at Kane. Rick Uber hit a grand slam home run, while Drew Tompkins and Kevin Gledhill also went deep in the Cats' 13- 6 win. It was Gledhill's eighth round-tripper. Tompkins also had a pair of singles.
