Bresslin makes Alle-Catt history
      Emporium Alle-Catt baseball manager Ralph McKimm recently paid tribute to one of his players, Ryan Bresslin. McKimm searched league record books and confirmed last week that Bresslin's June 24 performance in Derrick City was truly one for the books.

Horsehoe tourney September 8
      Horseshoe pitchers from throughout the region are welcome to enter one of northcentral Pennsylvania's premier competitions, coming up on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Shinglehouse Community Park. Entry deadline is Sept. 1 for the Shinglehouse Horsehoe Tournament, which traditionally draws participants from two states and at least five counties.

      Six finalists are competing for the men's championship at the Coudersport Golf Club. Emerging from a 35-man field in the season-long match play are these golfers: David Horn, Nick Marzo, Jake Woodard, Jim Wilkinson, Doug Hensel and Scott Carts.

Park Pool open this weekend
      Sizerville State Park's swimming pool will reopen for the Labor Day weekend before closing for the season. Hours of operation for Saturday, Sunday and Monday are 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
