Golden Anniversary
      The children of Gary and Judi Brown announce their parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Brown were married on Nov. 30, 1957, in Brookville. The family celebrated on Nov. 23 with a dinner at the Royal in Ridgway.

Hause heading to hurricane zone
      Cameron County High School graduate Zachary Hause is among 20 Clarion University students who will spend their Christmas break assisting victims of Hurricane Katrina in the New Orleans area. Hause, a senior political science/ Spanish major, will join other students working in soup kitchens and rebuilding homes.

'Christmas in the Wilds' next weekend
      Plans are falling into place for the Cameron County "Christmas in the Wilds," with activities scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8. Organizers from the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hope to increase community involvement with the holiday activities.

Emporium Rotary Club Meeting
     Activities of the Sylvan Heritage Council were discussed by local insurance agent Don Olivett during an Emporium Rotary Club meeting at the Cabin Kitchen. Several Rotarians are involved in this organization, which has been focused on improving the appearance of downtown Emporium. A broader mission is to encourage entrepreneurial investment. Olivett said he believes the borough can qualify for grants to help with economic revitalization. A more vibrant town will have greater appeal to young people, Olivett pointed out. He's shown with a future citizen, Alex Umble. In other news, club members agreed to hold their Tuesday, Dec. 4, luncheon meeting at the First United Methodist Church.
