Frederick Lewis

Frederick O. Lewis, 88, of Gardeau, died Monday (Jan. 1, 2007) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Emporium, a son of Vivian Oliver and Lillian Octavia Brewer Lewis. On Feb. 4, 1940, in Port Allegany, he married Mary Ellen Lewis, who died Dec. 15, 2006.

Mr. Lewis first worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He also was a surveyor. He most recently worked as a moldmaker, employed by Pittsburgh Corning in Port Allegany, retiring after 33 years.

He was a life member of the Moose Lodge #460, Port Allegany.

He is survived by one daughter, Dianna Connelly of Gardeau; one son, William A. Lewis of Gardeau; one grandson; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters.

Funeral and committal services were held with the Rev. John Baney, pastor of the Keating Summit United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Newton Cemetery.
