The late small game season, coinciding with Austin Area School's Christmas break, was a perfect time for 12-year-old Kal Logue to go hunting with his .22 north of the borough. Kal, the son of Kurt and Julie Logue, was "sneak hunting" in the brush near the Austin Dam when he flushed out two rabbits. Squirrels, pheasants and rabbits are legal through Feb. 3; grouse, through Jan. 27.
