Gas company plans local expansion Dominion Transmission Company is seeking federal permission for a massive expansion of three of its natural gas storage facilities in the region. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is being asked to allow Dominion to expand its Woodhull Station, near the border of Potter and McKean counties with New York State; its Greenlick Storage facility, in Potter County's southeastern border with Clinton County; and its Sabinsville Station, near the eastern Potter County border with Tioga County. It's all part of Dominion's plan to increase its storage and transmission capacity. Potter and surrounding counties contain massive underground storage caverns which Dominion pumps full compressed natural gas. The reserves are drawn to service customers throughout the northern Atlantic states and New England. Specifics of Dominion's massive expansion plan, formally known as the "USA Storage Project," are available for review at public libraries in Coudersport, Renovo and Wellsboro. |
