Cavallari named All-State

Chris Cavallari
Coudersport's Chris Cavallari was named a first team All-State football star last week in statewide balloting by the media.

A senior, Cavallari was named to the Class A offensive all-stars for his performance during the 2006 season, helping Coudersport to go 13-1 and earn a berth in the state's Elite 8.

Cavallari and Curwensville's Nick Sipes finished in a dead heat for the PIAA District 9 Player of the Year, based on balloting supervised by a volunteer group that operates the D9sports.com website. Cavallari ran for 1,798 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had 18 catches for 250 yards and three touchdowns.

Coudersport's Drew Levavasseur finished second to Justin Switzer of Karns City in defensive player of the year balloting. Falcon Isaac Cary was third in the offensive lineman of the year voting. Paul Simcoe was second to Ed Conto of Karns City as coach of the year. Cameron County's Tony Defilippi also received some votes.
