May Dempsey

May K. Dempsey, 95, formerly of Sinnemahoning, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at the Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.

Born on Oct. 10, 1911, in Sinnemahoning, she was the daughter of Alonzo Pitts and Jeanette Michaels Pitts. On Nov. 23, 1932, in Emporium, she married John Howard Dempsey, who preceded her in death.

She attended school in Sinnemahoning, was a homemaker and a member of Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church. May cared for cats at Centre Crest.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Pam Bird and Denise Snook, both of Bellefonte; four greatgrandchildren, Tiffany Benner, Erin McCloskey, Kaitlyn Snook, and Brandon Snook; two great-great-grandchildren, Noah Benner and Talia McCloskey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dempsey was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Twila Schultz; one daughter, Robert Dempsey; a son-in-law, Willard Schultz; four sisters, Lena Narehood, Thelma Peno, Hazel Zekoll and Sadie Perry and by one brother, Norman Pitts.

Mrs. Dempsey was the last in her generation.

Funeral services were at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Bellefonte, with the Rev. Barry Folmar officiating. Burial was at the Askey Cemetery in Snow Shoe Township.
