Playgroup members at the Family C enter in Emporium celebrated National Popcorn Day. Mason Melott and his mother Holly were among those ready to dive into some popcorn during snack time. Even the Popcorn Board, an organization representing U.S. popcorn processors, isn't sure how National Popcorn Day began, but it is believed to be tied in with the National Football League's Super Bowl. Although Europeans learned about popcorn from Native Americans, archaeologists believe popcorn was growing on Mexco, China and India centuries before Christopher Columbus set sail in 1492.
