Fire departments merge

Bucktail Volunteer Fire Department of Driftwood completed its merger with the Sinnemahoning Volunteer Fire Department last month with an election of officers.

The new SVFD officer slate includes volunteers from the former Driftwood department. Danny Ball was elected fire chief. Deputy chief is Jeff Oyler. First and second assistants are Danyle Geist and Lee Oyler. Pumper captains for 2007 are Rich Porter and Butch Kehl.

Leadership of the organization includes Butch Kehl, president; Jeff Geist, vice president; Donna Kehl, secretary/ treasurer, and Misty Lupro, relief fund treasurer.

Also elected were: Jim Ball Jr., tanker captain; Jeff Geist, portable pump captain; Misty Lupro, rescue captain and safety officer; Judy Ball, fire police captain; Melissa Geist, ambulance captain and safety officer; Heather Baney, training officer.

SVFD has expanded its firehall to accommodate equipment from the former Bucktail organization.
