Watershed Assn. reaching out to landowners

Bucktail Watershed Association is seeking volunteers who are interested in the protection of waterways in Cameron County.

The organization's next meeting will be held on Thursday night, Feb. 8, at the Cameron County Courthouse, starting at 7:00. The public is welcome.

At the January meeting, association members put out an appeal to landowners who would like to have streambanks stabilized on their property. The group can tap funding sources to cover most of the cost.

The association also continues to monitor the Norfolk Southern cleanup work at the site of the train derailment last June. BWA hopes to qualify for a portion of the settlement between the railroad and the Pa. Dept. of Environmental Protection for local waterways improvements.
