Gilbert Brown

Gilbert C. Brown, 78, of Emporium, died Monday (Jan. 29, 2007) at the Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys.

He was born May 12, 1928 in New York, New York a son of Earl S. and Ella M. Jones Brown. In 1956 in Rahns, he married Betty L. Embody Brown.

Mr. Brown lived in Emporium since 1969. He attended Canajoharie, N.Y., schools. He retired from the maintenance department from Mallory Lumber Co., where he worked for over 20 years.

He is survived by two stepdaughters, Shirley (Richard) Pepe, Scranton, and Dorothy (James) Eckenroad, Emporium; two step-sons, Hobert (Joan) Moyer, Royersford and William (Sandy) Moyer, Royersford; nine grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a step-grandson and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Rev. R. Scott Melott, pastor, First Baptist Church, officiating. A military service was accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Burial was in Portage Township Cemetery.
