Supports PennDOT Efforts

I am writing in regards to last week's letter to the editor concerning PennDOT.

Since the fall of 2001 I have driven countless miles on the roads surrounding Emporium. For two years I drove to DuBois, the following two years to Bradford and now I drive to Coudersport on a regular basis.

I still say Cameron County PennDOT crews are the best around. I know that the minute I hit our county line the roads are going to be better maintained. I tell people about it all the time.

These guys are out on the roads and stay out on the roads until they get them cleaned up to the best of their abilities. They don't just have a magic pill that can make all of our roads free and clear of snow and ice. Which brings me to my next point.

As a licensed driver we also have a responsibility as we go out onto the roads when there is bad weather. If it is snowing, freezing rain, or any other mix that may affect the condition of the roads...SLOW DOWN.

We cannot just expect to be able to drive like "a bat out of hell," and all will be okay because PennDOT should have the roads cleaned up. Take a little extra time, leave a little early, don't just throw blame on the people who really do try their best to keep a safe road system for us.

Any day of the week, any hour of the day, my money is on the Cameron County PennDOT crew.
Jenn Beck,
Emporium
