If you love the outdoors and you don't feed birds, you really should. Not only will it provide you with constant entertainment, it'll also potentially save a lot of little lives. Song birds will have a tough go at it until spring breaks, now that there's deep snow. Feeders are a constant buzz of activity from daylight to dark in these conditions. Above, mourning doves and dark-eyed junkos share sunflower seeds. At right, a female American gold finch and a pilated woodpecker workover a pine cone that has been smothered in peanut butter and dunked in cracked corn.
