Coudersport native Chris Heimel has always been an outdoorsman and one of his favorite pastimes has been canoeing. After he and his wife, the former Connie Jaros, settled in Bella Vista, Ark., last year, Heimel carved out some space in his garage and got to work with his tools. The end product made its maiden voyage this week. Perhaps his workworking skills can be traced to his maternal grandfather, William D. Fish, the Potter County newspaper publisher who produced furniture and ornamental pieces in his spare time. Heimel was a familiar face in Coudersport for many years as manager of the King Windows plant, as well as an employee of the Sears Catalogue Store and an insurance agent. He's now semi-retired and relocated to Arkansas from Tucson, Arizona.
