Falcon girls unbeaten in junior high basketball

Both Coudersport teams started out the junior high basketball season undefeted. However, a strong Cameron County squad knocked off the Falcons Thursday night.

Earlier, OV tested the boys, but the Falcons (3-1) held on for a 33-26 win. Taylor Hathaway scored 12 points, while Tim McCusker and Josh Bucheit each scored six.

Last Thursday, coach John Sherry's Falcons shot out to a 22-6 lead on its way to a 44-12 win at Austin. Hathaway (13), Kevin Wolfinger (8) and Nick Jolley (7) led the scoring. In their season opener, the Falcons beat Galeton, 44-17, as Wolfinger scored 13 points and Hathaway added 10.

Jason Streich is back as the Falcon girls' coach. His team improved its mark to 3-0 with a 39-9 win over Cameron County Thursday night. Jenna Matzinger scored 20 points, while Hannah Fink added six.

Coudersport's girls beat Oswayo Valley 35-22 on Tuesday. Matzinger (15) and D. J. Cowburn (10) were doublefigure scorers

N. Potter travels to Coudersport Monday (girls at 4:00, boys at 5:15).
