Raiders' season ends

Visiting Cameron County gave Coudersport all it could handle in Friday's District 9 boys' basketball playoff game before falling, 53-40.

The Red Raiders left the court to a standing ovation from a large following of fans who realize Friday's entire lineup will be back next season.

"They played a very spirited game, and their crowd was really into the game," said Coudersport coach Chris Fink. "They had a great game plan."

To neutralize the hosts' height advantage, Cameron County (18-8) pulled its offense outside of the perimeter and tried to create openings through picks and screens.

Coudersport answered with tight defense on junior Jordan Crane, with Drew Levavasseur and Logan Hathaway sharing the assignment.

Crane had to work for his 12 points while teammate Daniel Sullivan, a sophomore, was hampered by foul problems.

The Raiders didn't have an answer for Coudersport's 6- foot-5 junior, Blair Heimel, who scored a game-high 19 points. Junior Derek Burdick added 10 points and played tough defense in the backcourt.

A three-pointer by another Falcon junior, John Hau, just before the halftime buzzer gave Coudersport a 24-16 lead at the break. Hathaway came out with five quick points to start the third quarter. Cameron County never got closer than eight points after that.
