Donna Truax

Donna R. Truax, 77, of Mills, died Wednesday (March 7, 2007) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

Born Nov. 28, 1929, in Coudersport, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Violet M. Hogancamp Weiss. On Aug. 24, 1946, in Genesee, she married George W. Truax.

She owned and operated Donna's Grocery in Mills and was employed at Galeton Production. Donna mostly worked at being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She took joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to work in her flower garden, feed and watch the birds, crochet, and was an avid reader.

Surviving are two sons, Samuel (Jackie Knapp) Truax of Woodhull, N.Y., and Ray (Sherrie) Truax of Harrison Valley; two daughters, Judith (Barney) Phelps of Mills and Valerie (Michael) Fitzwater of Ulysses; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milton J. Weiss of Harrison Valley, and Robert D. (Mary Ann) Weiss of Horseheads, N.Y.; a sister, Carol Siciliano of Elkland; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Owen D. Truax; a brother, Edward "Pete" Weiss; and a sister, Elizabeth Weiss.

Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, on Saturday, March 10, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, with funeral services following. The Rev. David Minor Jr. will officiate.

Burial will be in Mills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mills Union Church, Mills, PA 16937; Harrison Township Vol. Fire Co., Harrison Valley PA 16927; or Tri-Town Vol. Ambulance, Ulysses PA 16948.
