Irish dinner & music in Austin

Austin United Methodist Church will hold an Irish Dinner, complete with live music, on Saint Patrick's Day, March 17. Serving is from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30, followed by a performance by Confluence starting at 7:00. Cost of the dinner is by donation.

Performers are Nadine Dyskant-Miller, and her mother, Barbara Dyskant on piano. Nadine, 15, uses hardsoled shoes on a wooden footboard that creates a vibrant, pulsing rhythm while she plays her flute or whistle. Confluence plays the music of Ireland, Quebec and New England, with offerings that range from contemporary to waltzes, reels and high-energy jigs.

Cost for the concert is a free will offering. Austin United Methodist Church is located on Turner Street. Anyone with questions may contact Pastor John Baney at 647-5507 or Peg Rotello at 647-8441.
