Beth Malizia shared details of the St. Marks Day Care Center with members of Emporium Rotary. She said was approached by Lynne Grimm and Mimi Smith about starting a day care center. She then put out a survey through the school to see if there was a need. Since that time, committees have been formed, bylaws drawn up, tax-exempt status granted and a $5,000 grant received to purchase start-up equipment. Fund-raising continues and community support is encouraged. Although the center will be located in the education wing of the church, Malizia said, it is separate from the church. She is shown with program chair Blair Lundberg. In other business, Rotarians welcomed John Cappiello from St. Marys Rotary Club and long-time club volunteer Jeanette Micklich. Members also heard that the Wine and Cheese Social was a success, helping raise funds for the club's annial $4,000 scholarship to a local high school graduate. It was announced that the "Shoes For Nicaragua" mission collection continues until the end of March.
