Jack Solveson
John (Jack) Solveson, 86, of Emporium, died Friday (March 2, 2007) in Fort Myers, Fla.
Born April 20, 1920 in Emporium, he was a son of Reuben and Lila Solveson.
Mr. Solveson was an accomplished pilot and avid aviator, often flying out of the Emporium Airport.
His involvement with the Keystone Airport began in the 1940s when he leased the land and began construction.
A visionary, Mr. Solveson was known for his commitment to overcoming obstacles in his efforts to improve the Emporium area. He brought new businesses into the area and owned several downtown properties.
Surviving are his wife, Edna; two sons, Rick, of Fort Myers, Fla., and John (Salty) Solveson of Emporium; a daughter, Sally (John) Mumford of Jersey Shore; seven grandchildren, Daniel Mumford of Harrisburg, Donald Mumford of Philadelphia, Christine Mumford of Jersey Shore, Reuben Solveson and Saul Solveson of Emporium, Leif Solveson of Williamsport, and Elan Solveson of Fort Myers; three great-grandchildren; one stepson, David Lucas of Emporium; three step granddaughters, Tonya Aversa and Monica Schloder of Emporium, and Laura Lucas of Erie; and six step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
