Young wrestlers moving on

Several young wrestlers from Cameron County have qualified for the Area V Junior Olympic Tournament this weekend in St. Marys.

Among ages 13 and 14, Tyler Bidwell (117 lbs.) and Hunter Bardo (157), fresh off a successful season as freshmen on the school's varsity team, were first-place finishers at the Section IV Tournament last weekend in Port Allegany. Dom Manginell (112) and Kyle McManigle (147) placed second. Matt Melott (212) placed third and moved up in weight to advance to the Area V competition.

For ages 11-12, Nick Stuckey (125) and Aaron Burnside (160) each won his weight class at Port Allegany. Taylor Saline (90) and Devin Mason (125) placed second.

In the 10 and under bracket, Paul Etchepare was first at 55 lbs. Brandon Saline (70) and Erin Garrigan (80) each placed second. Brian Becker (90) placed third and moved up in weight to advance to St. Marys.

Among the age 8 and under wrestlers, Zach Becker placed first at 60 lbs. and Parker Lumley was first at 70. Shea Garrigan (65) and Andy Richnafsky (50) each placed second.
