High tunnel workshop offered

A workshop on "high tunnels" is being held on Tuesday, March 27, in Ulysses.

A high tunnel is a metalframed, dome-shaped structure covered with clear plastic. It is a simple growing system used to enhance crop growth, yield and quality. High tunnels are can help producers extend the growing season in the spring and fall.

Other benefits are: more even soil moisture, wind protection, warmer soil temperature, reduced chemical use, and increased ability to use biological control. The workshop will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m at the Ulysses Firehall. Cost is $20. For more information, contact at 274-4877, 435-9490 or 642- 2295.
