Forrest Riegel Forrest A. Riegel, 81, of Solvang, Calif., formerly of Emporium, died Thursday (March 1, 2007). Born in Johnsonburg on Sept. 28, 1925, he was the son of Forrest and Lena Riegel. In 1957, he married Frances Barrington, who survives. He was a member of the Emporium High School Class of 1943, entered the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, and received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in architecture. After working with his father in the family construction business, Pennsylvania Dri-Built, in Emporium, Mr. Riegel moved to California where he had a long, successful career as a project manager and property developer, retiring in 2001. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children, Chris (Barbara) Riegel of Palos Verdes Estate, Calif. and Tif- fany Hasselman of Redondo Beach, Calif; four grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Zanette of West Chester, and a brother, Kent Riegel of Wilmington, Del. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, June Graham. Memorial services were held in Solvang, Calif. and Rolling Hills, Calif. |
