Sidewalk avalanche!

To the editor:

I would like to start this letter by saying that I am almost always appreciative of the service by PennDOT and the Emporum Borough crew. They work long hours to remove the snow during the storms.

However, on March 13, they must have been in a bit of a hurry. All of the snow, slush and ice chunks shown in the acccompanying photo were left on my Fourth Street sidewalk when I got up in the morning.

I had a very difficult time removing this. It took me from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to clear the sidewalk.

People of Emporium walking downtown had to either crawl throught it or walk on the road. If PennDOT would have just slowed down a little, this wouldn't have happened.

I'll close this letter by saying thank you for the clean roads, but please slow down to help keep the sidewalks clear.
