Songwriters' Roundtable April 7
Potter County's Songwriters Roundtable returns for another season, kicking off on Saturday night, April 7, at its new location.
The cozy lodge at Ski Denton will host this year's series. It's located along Rt. 6 between Coudersport and Galeton, near the Pa. Lumber Museum.
Steve Quelet, folk singer and songwriter who relocated from the Philadelphia area to Potter County, has lined up a schedule of talented performers for the series, which runs monthly through November.
The entertainment schedule and additional information are available on the Internet at songwritersroundtable.com.
Jakob's Hollow, an acoustic trio comprised of Quelet, Eppie Bailey and Judy Shunk, will be the host band. The April 7 show, which runs from 7:00 to 10:00, also features the duo of Ina May Wool and Dan Weiss, along with Joe Jencks.
Ina May Wool, who reminds many of Rickie Lee Jones, sings songs of survival, rebirth and renewal, with insightful lyrics and a musical style blending blues, folk and country. Her two albums have received positive reviews, with the latest CD, "Crack It Open," described by the New York Times as "joyous, spirited, occasionally playful, and absolutely perfect from first note to last."
She will be joined on stage by her husband, producer and m u l t i - instrumentalist Daniel Weiss. Joe Jencks is an international t o u r i n g performer and award-winning songwriter. A dual U.S./Irish citizen, he m e r g e s traditions from both countries in his eclectic and vibrant m u s i c a l presentation.
Jencks uses his smooth, Joe Jencks sincere voice to "minister to the human spirit," with tributes to working people and storytelling.
Also on April 7, Ina May Wool will present a creative writing workshop in the afternoon. Anyone interested in participating should call 274- 9336 to register.
