'Carnival Day' being planned Supporters of the Emporium Skate Park have scheduled several activities for Saturday, April 14, to raise awareness and funds for their project. All of the activities will take place on Fourth Street. Highlight of "Carnival Day" will be the pie-throwing booth featuring the candidates for Cameron County Commissioner as targets. Each of the candidates has agreed to occupy the bull's-eye for 15 minutes, following this schedule: Ron Hammersly, 1:00; Barry Brown, 1:15; Stretch Reed, 1:30; Phil Jones, 1:45; Tonya Aversa, 2:00; Glen Fiebig, 2:15; Tom Callahan, 2:30; and Pat Vogt, 3:15. Carnival Day kicks off at 10:30 with a refreshment booth offering lunch items and snacks. Tickets for three new skateboards will be sold throughout the day, with winners' names being drawn at 3:30. Chances are currently being sold at Admit One and Mountain Laurel Federal Credit Union. Anyone who wants to help with Carnival Day should call Annie Hnath or Susie Gribble at 486-0373. Plans for the skate park next to the South Park Playground are continuing. |
