Learn to build your own fly rod

Veteran outdoorsman and angler Howie Gustafson will share his expertise in building flyfishing rods during a workshop on April 26 at the Port Allegany Education Center.

Participants will complete a customized 8.5-foot, 5-weight fly rod. All materials (blank, reel sheet, cork handle, guides, threads, adhesives and rod finish) and an instruction book are included in the cost. Participants should bring a cutting knife (X-acto, etc.), scissors, masking tape, marking pen, and tape measure.

Registration deadline is April 23. Cost is $135. The class will take place on Thursday evenings, April 26, May 3 and May 10, from 6:00 to 9:00. To register or learn more, call 814- 642-2295 or 814-274-4877.
