Raider boys undefeated in baseball Defending District 9 champion Cameron County is off to a red-hot start for the 2007 high school baseball season. Cameron Clingan pitched his second complete game in as many outings, striking out 14, as the Red Raiders improved to 3-0 with a 9-5 win Monday at Port Allegany. Clingan, who pitched a no-hitter in the season opener, showed some signs of wildness, as he issued eight walks to go with four Gator hits. He had plenty of offensive support, however, led by David Lyon (3 hits, 2B) and Garrett Hornung (2 hits). Last Friday, Jordan Crane struck out 10 in going the distance in the Raiders' 11-4 win over visiting Oswayo Valley. Clingan cracked his second homer of the season, a two-run shot, to give Cameron County a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third. Crane delivered a threerun double in the sixth inning to give himself some breathing room. Sean McManigle had three hits, including a double, while Clingan, Lyon and Hornung stroked two hits apiece. Wednesday's showdown with Smethport was postponed due to wet grounds. The Red Raiders are scheduled to play at Ridgway on Tuesday. |
