Kamper, Heimel, Crane, Valenti honored
Coudersport juniors Kristy Kamper and Blair Heimel have been named to the PIAA District 9 Basketball All-Star Team.
Selections were made from among dozens of players from District 9 schools by the staff of the Internet site, D9Sports.com, based on input from coaches, officials, players and fans.
Elk County Catholic's Jesse Bosnik was selected as boys' player of the year. Joining him and Heimel on the first team were seniors Calvin Grumley, Johnsonburg; Ryan Hritz, Clarion; Louis Pisani, St. Marys, and Justin Schmader, North Clarion.
Heimel, who was named the Northern Tier League most outstanding player, averaged more than 16 points and 10 rebounds per game in leading Coudersport to its fourth straight league championship.
Tiffany Corle, a senior from Union, was named as girls' player of the year. Corle and Kamper were joined on the D9 all-star team by seniors Paige Elkin, Brookville; Jenna Johnston, Clarion-Limestone; Lauren Martino, Punxsutawney; and Dani Struble, Curwensville.
Kamper averaged 15 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, along with 5.1 steals and 4.0 assists. She was also named the Northern Tier League most outstanding player.
D9Sports.com also named second team all-stars, including Cameron County junior Jordan Crane, who led the Northern Tier League in scoring; Austin junior Rayna Valenti, NTL girls' leading scorer; and Smethport junior Diana Phalon.
Among third team all-stars were: Jessica Wilson, junior, Coudersport; John Hau, junior, Coudersport; and Justin Smith, senior, Smethport.
