Stavisky, Corey both at AAA

Two local professional baseball players have opened the season on the doorstep of the major leagues.

Brian Stavisky of Port Allegany was in left field Thursday for Sacramento, a Class AAA affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. He went one for four in the opener against Tacoma. Stavisky split last season with Class AA Midland and Sacramento.

Meanwhile, Austin's Mark Corey has returned to the Pittsburgh Pirates and has started the season as a member of the bullpen with the Class AAA team in Indianapolis. He was with the Yankees last year.
