Slate of road work scheduled Several well-traveled roads in Potter and Cameron counties will receive maintenance work this spring and summer. Among the projects with the biggest impact is the replacement of the SPC Mike Franklin Bridge on East Second Street in Coudersport. That bridge will likely be shut down in July for upwards of six months. Rt. 6 westbound traffic that would normally pass through Coudersport's business district will be re-routed onto Mill Street. Eastbound Rt. 6 traffic will be detoured prior to reaching the Main Street Bridge, unless the motorist intends to connect with Rts. 44-49 at the Main/Second Street intersection. The rest of the work will include roadway widening, resurfacing (milling & paving) and tar and chip application. Contractor on those projects is Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College, which received a $4.6 million contract. Crews started on Route 4005, north of Coudersport, and will move on to Route 3013, near Cherry Springs. Also getting improvements will be Routes 6, 872, 607 and others. Work will also eventually move to Cameron County along Routes 46, 120, 2006, 3001, and 4004. All work is weather dependent and expected to be completed by mid- September. An alternating, one-lane traffic pattern will be in place during work hours along the roadways and flaggers will be in place. PennDOT reminds drivers to move through all work zones with caution, remain alert for stopped or slowed vehicles and obey posted speed limits. |
