Gerald Caulkins Gerald E. Caulkins, 82, of Port Allegany, died Monday (April 9, 2007) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport. Born Dec. 2, 1924, in Elmira, N.Y., he was a son of the late Guy E. and Vennetta M. Weimer Caulkins. On Feb. 16, 1947, in Port Allegany, he married Frances A. Earle, who survives. He was a 1942 graduate of Bradford Area High School. Mr. Caulkins was employed by the former Cameo Doll Factory, Sylvania Electric Co. in Emporium, and later as a electrician with Ball-Incon Container Co. (now Saint Gobain Container Co.), retiring in 1988. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant, Company D, 77th Tank Battalion. He was awarded two Bronze Stars in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and one Bronze Star in the Philippine Liberation. He was a member of the F&AM Liberty Lodge 505, Coudersport Consistory, Frank Burt Post 258, American Legion, and the VFW Post 6391, a life member of the Star Hose Co., and a former Scoutmaster, Troop #60. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Gary E. Caulkins of Port Allegany and Michael R. Caulkins of Roulette; a daughter, Tamara S. Wagner of Cuba, N.Y.; a brother, Keith R. Caulkins of Hugo, Colo.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joyce Caulkins and Marjorie Bosnik. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette. Memorials may be made to the S.W. Smith Library Building Fund or the Veterans Memorial Home. |
