Salt Run fishing derby extended

Organizers of the Salt Run Fishing Derby have good news for young people. The derby on that popular tributary just off the Sizerville Road, north of Emporium, is being extended for the next two weekends.

Anglers age 12 and under are welcome to participate on Saturdays and Sundays, April 21- 22 and April 28-29, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be available.

Cold weather didn't deter the younger set from enjoying the derby opener this past weekend. Several of them caught their limit of three trout within an hour. There was no limit on refreshments.

The fishing derby was free, but donations were accepted, with proceeds given to the local Boy Scouts. Several volunteers turned out to supervise the derby and tend the grill.
