'911'crews surveying

Major improvements are being made to the emergency communications system in Potter County.

John Hetrick is heading up the project as Enhanced 911 deployment coordinator. E911 will automatically provide location, phone number and occupant information when 911 is dialed.

Contracted workers have begun surveying the county to verify street addresses. They will be traveling in vehicles marked "9-1-1 County Survey" and will have identification.

They will not enter buildings, but may be seen sitting along the road or driveway, recording information. Work will take about one year to complete.
