Ella Cobb Ella O. Cobb, 91, of Eldred, died Thursday (April 19, 2007) at the Sena Kean Manor in Smethport. Born Nov. 14, 1915, in Redhouse, N.Y., she was the daughter of William F. and Virga F. Ostrander Leffler. On March 31, 1951, in Eldred, she married Fred E. Cobb. Mrs. Cobb was a 1933 graduate of Eldred High School. She later graduated from Westbrook Academy in Olean N.Y. She had resided in Eldred since 1916. She had been employed at the Reigle Lumber Co. in Eldred as a secretary. During World War II, she was employed at the Eldred Munitions Co. She was later employed by Viking Artline Furniture Co. in Eldred. She was a member of the Eldred Seventh Day Adventist Church until it merged with the Derrick City Adventist Church, where she was treasurer and organist for many years. She served on the board of directors at the Eldred WWII Museum and was active with that organization for more than 10 years. She was also active with McKean County Foster Parents and the S. W. Smith Friends of the Library. Surviving are two sons: Thomas G. (Barbara) Cobb of Warren and Daniel F. Cobb of Emporium; three daughters, Roberta J. (Gary) Welchof Jamestown, N.Y., Rose Mary (Robert) Jefferds of Eldred and Lisa Fay Cobb Terry of Washington, D.C.; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a brother, V. James Leffler of Bradford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald W. Cobb; a granddaughter, Crystal Johnson; and four brothers, William, Charles, Basil and Francis Leffler. Funeral services were held at the Derrick City Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial was in Annin Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Derrick City Seventh Day Adventist Church or the Eldred WWII Museum. |
