William Smith

William (Bill) Smith died on Monday (April 16, 2007).

He was born and raised in Elk County. Mr. Smith worked for the Emporium Borough and the Cameron County School District. A Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre, he moved to Cameron County shortly after marrying Dorothy Cooper Smith, who survives.

Mr. Smith is survived by three children: Wayne, Alan and Lori; three grandchildren, Mike, Matt and Shawn Smith; three sisters, Lila Wickett, Elda Caruso, both of St. Marys, and Fern Crawford of Sellersburg, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Harriet Hill Smith; three brothers, John, Fred and Lavern; a sister, Orrel; and a stepson, Michael.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Private funeral arrangements are being made.
