Terminal Growth
To the editor:

I had the opportunity to be at the Emporium Borough Council meeting on April 16.

Many Cameron County residents were unaware of a cancer that has seeped into our community and affected each and every one of us. Cameron County Ambulance and St. Marys Ambulance have served and saved not only my life, but countless others.

For some it has been a service that we have taken for granted. It is one of the only services left with dedication and stability we can count on at a moment's notice -- a service that realizes you are most vulnerable when you are hurt, sick or dying.

What took place at this borough meeting was a disturbing and disrespectful show of conduct aimed toward trained certified volunteers from Cameron County and St. Marys personnel. They had to defend themselves to a council that supposedly has nothing to do with either ambulance service.

It is my opinion that one Emporium Borough employee is blatantly and recklessly jeopardizing the welfare and good standing of all concerned. This is a definite cause for alarm.

A community cannot grow, prosper or even exist with a terminal growth hanging around its neck.

Thank you Cameron County Ambulance Service and St. Marys Ambulance/Medic 12 for your support, dedication and personal commitment. You have my utmost gratitude.
