Cameron candidates forum Tuesday

Voters will have a chance to assess the crowded field for three seats on the Cameron County Board of Commissioners during a public forum scheduled for 7:30 Tuesday night at the courthouse in Emporium.

Radio Station WLEM/The River 98.9 will broadcast the forum live. The event is open to the public. Those wishing to pose questions to the candidates are asked to submit them in advance via email at theriver989@yahoo.com.

Seven candidates are seeking the two Republican nominations. Four are running for two Democratic nominations. Winners' names from the May 15 primary election will appear on the November ballot to decide which three individuals serve the four-year term that starts in January 2008.

Republican candidates are Barry D. Brown, JoAnn Smith, Pat Vogt, Glen Fiebig (incumbent), Don "Stretch" Reed, Tonya Aversa, Ron Hammersley and Keith Summerson (write-in.)

Seeking the Democratic nominations are Phillip P. Jones, Nick Botera Jr., Thomas Callahan and Keith Summerson (write-in).
