Many looking for work Unemployment rates in Potter and Cameron continue to hover well above state and national averages. Jobless figures for March, released this week, show that 6.6% of Potter County's adult population is looking for work. The Cameron County figure is 5.3%. Both figures were down from the February numbers. The state's unemployment rate for the same period stood at 3.8%. The country's jobless rate fell slightly to 4.4%. Elk County saw an increase in jobs during March, resulting in an unemployment rate of 4.1%, down from 4.7% in February. Across northcentral Pennsylvania, there were net job increases during March in government, goods-producing, construction, natural resources, mining, manufacturing, service providing, trade, transportation, utilities, retail trade, leisure and hospitality. |
