Falcons move to 4-4 Coudersport was hungry for success on the diamond this week after dropping to 2-4 in its often-interrupted high school baseball season. The Falcons promptly turned the tide with a 12-0 shutout of visiting Northern Potter on Wednesday, followed by a thrilling comeback win, 18-10, at Otto- Eldred. Coach Doug McClintic's boys got right to work at CARP Field on Wednesday against Northern Potter, plating seven runs in the first two innings. S o p h o m o r e pitcher Brett Whitman kept the Panther bats silent. Junior Derek Burdick closed things out on the mound. Kirk Duffee and Zach Buckler each homered to lead the hosts' 12- hit attack. On Thursday, Coudersport exploded for 12 runs in the top of the seventh after entering that final inning on the short end of a 10-6 score at Otto- Eldred. The Falcons were one out away from defeat when they erupted against pitcher Eric Freer. Buckler connected for two Isaac Cary had four hits, including a homer and a double in that marathon seventh inning. Adam Dow also went deep. Duffee was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion in picking up the mound win. Johnsonburg pitcher Calvin Grumley was too much to handle on Monday in the Falcons' 12-2 loss. The senior standout allowed just three hits. Duffee,Dow and John Hau shared mound duties for the Falcons. |
