Fishing derby set

A local tradition, the Kids Fishing Derby, returns this year at the bridge in Cross Fork, just off Pa. Rt. 144 in southern Potter County. A Memorial Day weekend fixture, the derby always draws a big crowd of junior anglers from the local area and from camps around the region. It's scheduled for 9:00 a.m. May 26, in Kettle Creek.

The derby is sponsored by the Cross Fork Sportsmen's Club. Prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded. A chicken barbecue will also be held, with serving to start at noon. Proceeds from chicken sales will benefit the Cross Fork Sportsmen's Club fish and game feeding program.
