Coudersport moved a step closer to the .500 mark in high school baseball by beating Port Allegany, 8-4, Thursday afternoon at CARP Field. Brian Wetzel was the winning pitcher.
On Tuesday, the Falcons (5- 6) couldn't hold a 3-1 lead at Shinglehouse and ended up dropping a tough 8-7 decision the Green Wave.
Sophomore Zach Buckler's two-run homer helped the visitors go on top 3-1, but Brandon Meacham's threerun blast in the bottom of the second gave OV a lead it would never relinquish.
The previous day, Coudersport let a 3-2 lead slip away in the late innings as the Falcons dropped an 8-3 game to Oswayo Valley at CARP Field.
Junior pitcher Brandon Slater was a tough nut for Coudersport to crack with his broad repertoire of pitches. Still, the Falcons plated three runs in the bottom of the third to go up 3-2. OV evened the score in the fifth and pushed across three runs in the sixth to give Slater a cushion.
Senior Kirk Duffee, who shared mound duties with Wetzel, had two of Coudersport's eight hits.
