'Bullseye Blasters' perfect shooting skills

These are among the Bullseye Blasters 4-H Club members recognized at last week's awards banquet.
Another successful marksmanship season came to a close last week with an awards banquet for the Bullseye Blasters 4-H Club.

For several years, adult volunteers have introduced young people to the shooting sports through an air rifle program that is sponsored by 4- H and supported by the National Rifle Association, American Legion, Austin- Costello Sportsmen and the Friends of the NRA.

Boys and girls participate in local and regional competition. Occasionally, Bullseye Blasters members move on to statewide and even national finals.

In American Legion competition, these members received awards for high scores in their age groups: Gage Martin, Seth Wagman, Joey Boyd, Faith Martin and Cory Snook.

At NRA Sectionals in Palmyra, top scores were recorded by Gage Martin (502), Hope Martin (427), Janel Cowburn (440), Faith Martin (407), Josh Chappel (406), Bryan Brooks (379), Casey Tomak (341) and Cory Snook (338).

The Bullseye Blasters team in statewide Junior Olympics competition placed third. Members were Gage Martin, Faith Martin, Hope Martin and Josh Chappel.

During the Central Region event, the team of Garret Lauber, Mariah Wertz and Cory Snook placed second for ages 8-10; Snook was first in individual overall score.

For ages 11-12, Bullseye Blasters Dustin Chappel, Bryan Brooks, Hope Martin and Faith Martin took first place; individually, Hope was second, Faith placed third and Bryan was fourth.

Second place for ages 11-12 went to the local trio of Cody Robinson, James Snook and Nick Wertz.

Gage Martin was the top individual shooter among ages 13-15, while teaming with Zack Snook and Willard Brandon for third place in group competition. Gage fired a perfect 100 score in the prone position.

Individual honors went to Janel Cowburn (first) and Josh Chappel (second) for ages 16- 19.

The Bullseye Blasters welcome new members. Further information is available from leaders Buck Jackson (274-0219), Cindi Martin (435- 2576) or Pat Jackson (274- 9497).
