Charles McVay Charles "Marley" McVay, 84, of Bradford, died Saturday (June 9, 2007) at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport. Born in Bradford Nov. 19, 1922, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Mae Marley McVay. On April 27, 1957, in St. Bernard Church, he married Mary Frances Helenbrook. He attended St. Bernard Elementary School and Bradford High School. He began working in the local oil fields in 1940 for McVay Brothers Oil Co. until he retired in 1984. He was a member of St. Bernard Church, Elks Club, Pennhills Club and the Bradford Central Christian Ramblers Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Julie McVay, Towson, Md.; two sons, Robert (Karen) McVay, Coudersport and Christopher McVay, Emporium; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. A prayer service was held at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in the St. Bernard Church. Memorials may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, St. Bernard School or the Juvenile Diabetes Association. |
