Alle-Catts passing every test Emporium's Alle-Catt baseball team finally found itself in a challenging game Sunday when the Warren Generals came to town. A solid pitching performance by Ryan Bresslin was the key in Emporium's 6-3 win. He went the full nine innings, striking out seven, walking just one, and limiting Warren to seven hits. Kevin Gledhill had two of the Cats' eight hits and drove in a pair of runs. Dustin Mullens' double was Emporium's only extra-base hit. Emporium (8-1) was coming off a 23-0 laugher over the visiting Olean Oilers on Saturday. Kevin Gledhill cracked two more home runs and had four hits. Rick Uber delivered a grand slam. Paul Baker added a homer and. Drew Tompkins ripped a double and three singles. Cameron Clingan and McKimm each had three hits. Ralph McKimm Jr. was almost untouchable on the mound. He fanned 14 Oilers and allowed just one hit over seven innings. Ken Meyer worked the final two hitless innings with three strikeouts. Nine games into the season, several Emporium hitters are carrying lusty statistics. Kevin Gledhill is batting .694 with seven homers and 24 RBI. He hasn't struck out in 44 plate appearances. Bresslin is crushing the ball at a .762 clip. Clingan, who has been splitting his time with the high school baseball team, is batting .636. Also sporting eyeopening numbers are Tompkins (.532), McKimm (.484), Mullens (.481) and Kyle Gledhill (.472). Emporium travels to Kane (5-2) on Sunday for a 2:00 game. The Cats are also on the road next Sunday against Bradford (3-4). |
