Frederick Edel Frederick C. "Butch" Edel, 70, of Marshburg, died June 17, 2007, in Bradford Regional Medical Center. Born in Bradford on May 6, 1937, he was the son of C. P. "Bud" and Ethel B. Story Edel. On June 19, 2004, he married Jere A. Troka, who survives. Mr. Edel was a graduate of Bradford High School, where he was active in football and track. He attended Murray State Teachers College in Kentucky. He previously lived in California for nine years and owned F&M Sales, an import business. He then moved to Hawaii, where he owned and operated Edel's Food Service Distribution Co., retiring after 25 years. He was a member of St. Bernard Church, Elks Club, Bradford Club, Pennhills Club and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He volunteered at the Hawaiian Open Golf Tournament and completed the Honolulu Marathon. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lamont T. "Monty" (Gail) Edel; two grandsons; two brothers, Richard (Helen) Edel, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jay (Mary Lea) Edel, of Emporium; two sisters, Jacqueline (Richard) Savacool, of Houston, Texas, and Kay (Len) Bessenhoffer, of Reno, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Marie L. Wilkinson; a daughter, Kathleen M. Edel; and a brother, Lamont E. "Monty" Edel. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Bernard Church with the Rev. Leo Gallina, pastor, as celebrant. Burial was in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the McKean County Unit of the American Cancer Society. |
