Country music 'showdown' August 4

Radio Station WFRM-AM 600 of Coudersport is joining a national country music talent search, with local competition to be held on the stage of the Potter County Fair in Millport on Aug. 4.

About $200,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded nationwide. The national winner will appear in a televised special.

Colgate Country Showdown gives aspiring artists a chance to launch their professional careers. Local contests sponsored by more than 500 radio stations produce winners who progress to state and, in some cases, regional contests. Five artists earn an expense-paid trip to the national finals.

Competition is open to vocal and/or instrumental performers, both individual acts or groups of no more than seven. A $10 entry fee is required, along with a CD or tape that will serve as an audition for the Aug. 4 judging.

Forms are available at the WFRM studios at 9 South Main Street or by calling 274- 8600.
