Man jailed after fleeing cops A Sweden Valley man is in the Potter County Jail after leading police on a high-speed chase over the course of more than an hour Wednesday night. Charles E. Olson, 32, faces a variety of charges. He was arraigned before District Judge Annette Easton, who set bail at $25,000. Among the charges are aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding police officers, and burglary. State police from Denton Hill said the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, during which Olson allegedly assaulted his wife, 25-year-old Becky Olson. He then allegedly threatened another victim, 28-year-old Drew Watson of Coudersport, with a loaded handgun that Olson discharged into a floor. Olson subsequently led police on a lengthy chase throughout Sweden Township while maintaining contact with his wife by mobile phone. He finally surrendered at a private residence on North Hollow Heights. Police said they took Olson into custody without a struggle and confiscated a small quantity of suspected marijuana. |
